Guide on Application to NYP
Now that the A Level results are out, it’s time to choose your course! This guide is written specially for prospective A Level graduates who want to enrol into NYP to study Physiotherapy or other Allied Health courses. Non A Level holders may still apply but you will have to write in to our Admissions Office instead because the online application form only caters to A Level holders. For more information, please visit our FAQ page.
Step 1. Visit http://www.nyp.edu.sg/ and click on the icon to apply for our Direct Admission Exercise. Do take note that the application period lasts only from 2nd to 9th March. Hence, you will have to apply quickly if you are interested to study Physiotherapy in NYP.
Step 2. Enter your NRIC.
Step 3. Fill up the online application form. Our course is HSDF02 (Diploma in Physiotherapy).
Step 4. After completing the form and reading the declaration, click submit. Please print the verification slip and refer to it for your application number as well as the documents that you will have to submit personally to our Admission Office at Level 2.
In case you forget to print the verification slip, you may do so again here. Enter your NRIC/application number plus your date of birth to retrieve the verification slip.
Step 5. After the exercise has concluded on 9th March, you should receive your letter of offer within one to two weeks if you are accepted. There is also an enrolment package that comes together with the letter.
Step 6. To accept the offer, visit the online enrolment system and input your admission number and pin which is written on the letter of offer.

Step 7. Visit this page for subsequent steps required to complete your enrolment.
Once completed, you are officially a member of NYP!! You’re all set to embark on your exciting life in Nanyang Polytechnic as an Aspiring Physiotherapist. Hi Lynn,
Sorry but there isn’t an answer. So long as you meet the requirement, you stand a chance being accepted. We have students from various backgrounds from RJC to JJC and some from overseas.

Hi,
Thanks for reply. What if the student who has moderate hearing loss but has fitted with hearing aid n has not much of problem in lectures. Is it possible that nyp will accept thestudent for the course?

Hi Javier,
The school can gladly accommodate to the learning needs of the student if any is necessary and the student is welcome to apply for the course. However, he/she might want to take into consideration the kind of working environment he/she will be placed in upon graduation. In the healthcare industry a lot of communication when dealing with patients is required and sometimes the setting can get relatively noisy. Healthcare equipment might be high pitch machinery as well. The student might decide not to work in acute hospitals but clinical placements are part of our curriculum throughout the 3 years of the course, in which case students are placed in acute/community hospitals or nursing homes at random. If the student is confident that he/she will not face difficulties in the hospital setting then by all means do apply 🙂

Hello Javier,
Unfortunately due to the nature of how our course is conducted, students with severe hearing loss might be at a disadvantage. Most of the lectures conducted involve a lot of verbal information given by the lecturers and relying solely on the lecture notes might not be the best option. This applies to tutorials and our lab sessions as well. However it is still feasible if the student is confident that he or she is able to cope.

can they apply this year 2012, or next year 2013, and have their places held for them?

Hi,
Go ahead and apply this year! You still got another 2 days before the application closes (you have do the online application + come down to NYP to submit your documents before the deadline). I thought all the A Level holders are already enlisted? There’s another batch? My brother went in in February. Anyway, applying early is good because it is going to get increasingly difficult to get into our course because it’s getting more popular in recent years.

By the way, do you know if we can apply for the Health Science (3+1) scholarship from the various organisations offering it? For example, apply for that scholarship from MOHH, Jurong Health, NHG, Singapore Health Services etc. all at the same time? Does that mean 4 interviews, i.e. 4 chances?

Hi,
I get an email notification whenever wordpress receives a comment so it’s pretty fast(= Similar to the deadline for NYP, the scholarship for Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH) closes this Friday. MOHH will help the various healthcare clusters in Singapore to interview prospective scholars and then allocate you to a particular cluster if you are selected. You will be required to go down for an interview somewhere in late March or early April if you are shortlisted by them. If you happen to miss the application period, you can still try submitting as they are actively recruiting healthcare scholars all year round. Alternatively, if you want to choose a particular hospital to work in, you can apply directly to them (interview might be harder though as they might make things more challenging). Good luck with that, as well as NS!

Yes, they will be starting their course in mid April. The guys who are accepted will have their place at NYP reserved until they finish serving NS.
